Starlink... Works

A little while ago I blogged with excitement about Starlink coming to Ireland. It's early days yet, but reviews from the other side of the Atlantic are looking pretty good.

Jeff Geerling shared a great write-up of the setup process. Silly router aside, it's impressively fast and reliable.

Jeff recorded these stats (a few days worth):

• Download: 106 Mbps
• Upload: 16.1 Mbps
• Ping: 40.58 ms

That's far faster and - I think - cheaper many most wireless internet services available in Ireland.

It'll be interesting to see how speeds increase over time and meet, or even exceed, fixed-cable services. I'm getting 1GB+ from Virgin Media in my home at the moment. Quite a difference.
